2020 Local Champion Extended into 2021!

When Joaquin was born at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital in March of 2018, his Down Syndrome diagnosis came as a complete surprise to his family. His parents and big sister have never let an extra chromosome stop them from giving Joaquin an amazing life full of love and support. He has visited SVMH as a pediatric in-patient several times, and it was the joy that he brings to the staff that prompted them to nominate Joaquin to be our local CMN Hospitals Champion in 2020.

Being a local CMN Hospitals Champion in the midst of a pandemic was a challenge, to say the least, so we are delighted to welcome Joaquin back as our Champion for 2021. Since we first met him, Joaquin has celebrated his 2nd birthday, gotten “superhero strong” with physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and most recently became a big brother! You’ll see Joaquin’s smiling face on campaign materials, on our CMN Hospitals blog, and on social media throughout the year. We are so grateful to his parents for sharing Joaquin’s story and letting us celebrate him all year long to help raise awareness for our local Children’s Miracle Hospitals Program and the difference that it makes for Central Coast kids like Joaquin.
