The Miracle Mobile

When your child is sick with a life-threatening illness, the last thing you should have to worry about is how you are going to get them to and from their medical appointments. For many families in our tri-county area, medical transportation is a serious challenge. Many of the closest children’s specialty services are located in and around the Bay Area, several hours away.

Thanks to a collaboration between our CMN Hospitals Program and the local nonprofit Partnership For Children, we are able to help get more kids to more appointments, allowing their parents to focus on what’s important – their child.

In July of 2016, the CMNH Program at SVMHS was pleased to fund the purchase of a brand new Toyota Prius (dubbed the ‘Miracle Mobile’) along with all associated costs for the vehicle to operate for a year. Just this month, SVMHS was proud to renew their support through June 2018.

One frequent passenger in the Miracle Mobile is three-year-old Savannah Leach. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments in the Bay Area for kidney cancer and sometimes has as many as 5 appointments in a week. Her mother Stephanie has been relying on Partnership For Children and the Miracle Mobile since December of 2016. She says her husband is the only one who works in the family and can’t take them to doctors’ appointments.

“I am very appreciative of this service,” says Stephanie. “There have been times when my daughter has been very sick from the chemotherapy treatments, and thanks to this program I’ve been able to sit with her in the back of the car and take care of her. Savannah and I really like the drivers, they are patient and will make stops whenever necessary. They are amazing!”

Funding for the Miracle Mobile wouldn’t be possible without the support of our corporate partners and donors… without YOU. Every dollar donated stays local, helping kids like Savannah.

When you’re out and about in the tri-county area, you might just see the Miracle Mobile. We hope you’ll smile and be proud to have played a part in helping the family inside.
